Before taking Seroquel, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to quetiapine, any of the ingredients in Seroquel’s brand name product, or any other medicines. Seroquel may also cause a low level of potassium in your blood. Your doctor will want to check your potassium levels first before prescribing Seroquel and may need to adjust the potassium dosage based on information from your doctor. To lower your risk of low potassium levels, your doctor may add a little salt along with Seroquel to your diet.
Seroquel may cause side effects that may range from mild to serious. Tell your doctor about any side effects you may have while using Seroquel and he or she will do lab tests to determine if Seroquel is the right medication for you. Your doctor may adjust your dosage based on your medical condition, how your head works, and any side effects you may have. If you have any questions about why Seroquel has been prescribed for you, contact your doctor.
Seroquel is prescription medication. Your doctor will prescribe the lowest effective dose and conditions you will be prescribed by your doctor. Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic drug that is used to treat patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is also used to treat symptoms of mania in response to excessive sunlight or viral infections.
Quetiapine is classified as a second-generation antipsychotic that contains a similar target population as quetiapine. With about 75 million prescriptions in the United States, second-generation antipsychotics are more popular than their generically available counterparts quetiapine.2 The drugs help manage symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder but have a slightly different mechanism of action.3
Quetiapine is prescribed to treat symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It may also be prescribed for insomnia and borderline personality disorder.
Quetiapine is available in a variety of dosage forms including tablets, capsules, and liquids. There may be other options for treating mental health conditions, but Seroquel is the only brand-name quetiapine that has a longerlist of treatments.
Seroquel is available as an oral tablet, sustained-release (SLR) tablet, and injection. Olunate is an injection of SLR into a vein that has been infused with at least two drops of quetiapine per dose.
The produces effective effect by reducing doses of quetiapine to treat symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. By reducing quetiapine's effect on symptoms, the drug helps patients feel better and regain their full range of energy.
The effects of quetiapine can last anywhere from four to six weeks, although studies have shown that quetiapine can take up to 12 weeks to produce noticeable results.3

After starting a new medication, I have to admit, I would always try to take it with food. It was hard. After reading about the drug being more effective than seroquel, I have to say, it worked.

I was on it for over a year and I finally got to try it. When I was on Seroquel, I had a great time. It was the best I've ever had. My doctor didn't think it would work for me but it did and that was the difference between a hard drug and a cheap little pill.
I was on Seroquel for nearly 8 years. I was told by my doctor that I have to stop taking it because I was feeling tired and weak. It was awful. I started taking it about 10 times a day. I was amazed at how fast my body was metabolizing it and I stopped. I never thought I would have to stop, but I just felt so much better!
Condition: SchizophreniaI was on it for about a month and I finally got better. It was very frustrating.
