A small study of quetiapine for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is now completed by the University of Toronto.
The study is based on data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information's (CIHIS) Seroquel (quetiapine fumarate) for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
The study will be followed by an independent group of doctors to examine the efficacy and tolerability of the quetiapine treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and the quetiapine treatment for bipolar disorder.
The participants will be followed for at least 3 months.
In a separate, larger, study, a total of 300 participants will be recruited from October 1, 2021, to June 1, 2023.
Participants will be administered Quetiapine for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
This was done by a consultant psychiatrist, who will use a validated questionnaire to measure their patient-centred perceptions of the quetiapine treatment. The participants will be assessed on the same day at the beginning of treatment with Quetiapine and then at the end of treatment, after 3 months of treatment with Quetiapine.
