I take 300 mg of quetiapine once a day and I have been on it for 6 years. I have had numerous side effects but now my doc says I may need to switch to Seroquel. I have no problems and I am pleased with my experience.

My son was prescribed quetiapine (generic Seroquel) by my doc. My son is a bit older and my Doc is prescribing him Seroquel (Quetiapine). My son is very healthy and seems to be on quite the upward march. My son has been on Seroquel for 4 years. I have been told that it is not working for him. He is getting worse and my doc says he should have his Seroquel on the off chance that he is taking Seroquel. He says that he may need a different medication or else the side effects will be gone. I am very concerned about this side effect. He will need to see a specialist. I am not sure if I will be able to get him off quetiapine or if this could be a side effect of Seroquel or if he is just not going to be taking it. I am hopeful that it will help him with his symptoms. I am not sure why Seroquel is the first drug to be prescribed to his patients. I am not sure why this medication is even in my list. I have been told that Seroquel is not a first choice for my patients. They do not like the idea of having to take the pills every day and the doctors think it is going to cause side effects.
